‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’ Reclaims Top Spot as ‘Am I Racist’ Enters Box Office Top 5

Moviegoers continued to flock to theaters to see the sequel to Tim Burton’s “Beetlejuice” this weekend, helping it maintain its top spot at the domestic box office. The film brought in an impressive $51.6 million in ticket sales, only dropping 54% from its opening weekend. With a total North American gross of $188 million and an international total of $264.3 million, the Warner Bros. release is proving to be a hit among audiences worldwide.

Despite facing limited new competition, “Beetlejuice” faced off against new releases like the James McAvoy horror film “Speak No Evil” and the Dave Bautista action movie “The Killer’s Game.” “Speak No Evil” secured the second spot at the box office with $11.5 million in earnings, drawing in audiences with its remake of a Danish horror film and a strategic release date on Friday the 13th.

In its eighth weekend, “Deadpool & Wolverine” claimed the third position with $5.2 million, bringing its total earnings to $621.5 million in North America and $1.3 billion globally. The Daily Wire’s satirical movie “Am I Racist?” debuted in fourth place, generating an estimated $4.7 million from a limited number of theaters. The film, directed by Justin Folk, features conservative columnist Matt Walsh in a mockumentary exploring sensitive societal issues.

Other films in the top ten included “Reagan,” starring Dennis Quaid, which brought in an additional $3 million, and the action comedy “The Killer’s Game” with $2.6 million in its opening weekend. The faith-based film “God’s Not Dead: In God We Trust” also secured a spot in the top ten with a $1.5 million launch.

Among the limited releases, Amazon MGM Studios introduced “My Old Ass” in select theaters, earning $171,242 in New York, Los Angeles, and Austin. The film starring Maisy Stella is set to expand nationwide later in September.

Looking ahead, the box office landscape is expected to be relatively quiet until the release of the Optimus Prime origin film “Transformers One” next weekend. However, anticipation is building for the upcoming release of “Joker: Folie à Deux,” set to hit theaters on October 4th. The movie is expected to make a significant impact on the box office upon its release.
