Bedroom With Mattress in Backyard Stuns NYC Neighbors

Bedroom In Backyard Discovered By Shocked Roommates

Three women in New York City were stunned to discover a fully set up bedroom in backyard beneath their East Village apartment window. The trio, who had just moved into the building, spotted a man asleep on a white mattress, wrapped in blankets and surrounded by personal electronics.

The scene looked more like a furnished outdoor suite than a random intrusion. One of the roommates captured the moment on video and shared it on TikTok, where the clip quickly went viral, drawing over 300,000 views.

Man Naps Comfortably In Strange Backyard Setup

The video shows the man lying between a picnic table and a small garden, appearing completely relaxed in his makeshift bedroom in backyard. The roommates were shocked, especially because they were the only tenants in the building at the time. Other units were still under renovation.

“Guys, what the f–k? What the actual hell? What is happening?” one of them exclaimed in the video. Her roommate, who goes by @rheisabel on TikTok, posted the clip with the caption, “Update on our move from the West Village to the East Village.”

Bedroom In Backyard Raises Questions

The mystery man appeared two days in a row, according to the woman’s comments. No one knows how he accessed the private backyard or why he chose to rest there. Since the building remains largely empty, with construction ongoing in other units, the incident has left residents and viewers puzzled.

He hasn’t been seen since—but his short stay in the hidden bedroom in backyard has definitely left its mark.

Internet Reacts With Mixed Emotions

Although the video went viral, not all the feedback was positive. Many commenters criticized the roommates for filming the man while he slept, calling it an invasion of privacy. Several viewers sympathized with the man and told the women to “leave him alone.”

The woman who posted the video later told the media she wouldn’t share more details due to the intense backlash. “I actually got a ton of hate,” she said and has since stayed quiet about the situation.

The Mystery Remains Unsolved

With no further sightings and no explanation from the man himself, the story behind the bedroom in backyard remains unclear. The roommates still don’t know if it was a prank, a sign of homelessness, or something else entirely.

While strange encounters in New York City aren’t new, this one certainly took the roommates—and TikTok—by surprise. Whether they’ll ever learn the reason behind the mysterious backyard bedroom remains unknown, but one thing is clear: they won’t forget it.
