Baltimore Orioles sign OF Tyler O’Neill to a $49.5 million, three-year agreement, according to an AP source.

The Baltimore Orioles have finalized a three-year deal worth $49.5 million with outfielder Tyler O’Neill, as confirmed by a reliable source close to the negotiations.

The source, who wished to remain anonymous, reported on Saturday that the agreement is still pending a successful physical examination.

O’Neill is slated to receive $16.5 million annually for the duration of the contract, with the option to opt out following the 2025 season.

The 29-year-old outfielder recorded a .241 batting average along with 31 home runs and 61 runs batted in during the previous season while playing for Boston.

This past season marked O’Neill’s inaugural year with the Red Sox after spending his first six seasons in Major League Baseball with the St. Louis Cardinals.

His versatility allows him to cover both corner outfield positions, which could prove beneficial for the Orioles if they lose switch-hitting power hitter Anthony Santander in free agency.

O’Neill’s right-handed batting stance adds a valuable dimension to the Orioles’ lineup, especially since several current stars, such as Gunnar Henderson, Colton Cowser, Jackson Holliday, Heston Kjerstad, and Cedric Mullins, hit from the left side.

As the team prepares for the upcoming season, O’Neill’s acquisition may enhance not only their performance but also their strategic options in the outfield.
