MIAMI — The sports management agency Rimas Sports, co-owned by popular Puerto Rican musician Bad Bunny, revealed on Tuesday its new management agreement with Fernando Tatis Jr., a prominent San Diego Padres player. Rimas Sports aims to handle marketing, brand relations, and broaden Tatis’ pursuits as an athlete, entrepreneur, and philanthropist.
In 2021, Tatis had secured a substantial 14-year contract valued at $340 million with the Padres, a negotiation led by MVP Sports, under the leadership of Dan Lozano. Rimas Sports, a venture that includes Bad Bunny and his partners Noah Assad and Jonathan Miranda, also manages other high-profile athletes like Ronald Acuña Jr. from Atlanta, Ezequiel Tovar from Colorado, and Francisco Alvarez from the New York Mets.
The baseball players’ union had previously taken disciplinary actions against Rimas Sports leaders. William Arroyo, associated with Rimas, had his agent certification nullified last April. Furthermore, the union denied certification to Noah Assad and Jonathan Miranda based on allegations involving a $200,000 interest-free loan and a $19,500 gift, which resulted in a $400,000 penalty against the agency.
Ruth M. Moscovitch, an arbitrator, supported the union’s decision last October, which included a five-year suspension for Assad and Miranda, while reducing Arroyo’s suspension term to three years. They’ve yet to respond to the union’s motion to confirm this ruling, as noted by U.S. District Judge Jennifer H. Rearden, who set a February deadline for any official reply.
