Barbie is having a baby: Margot Robbie is pregnant and “happy”

Margot Robbie and Tom Ackerley are overjoyed that the news of their upcoming first child has been revealed.

Multiple sources confirmed on Sunday, July 7, to PEOPLE that the 34-year-old Barbie star is expecting.

An insider shared that the couple, both 34, have had a strong desire to start a family for a while.

“Family holds great significance for them, and they realized early on in their relationship that becoming parents was a shared aspiration,” the source disclosed. “They have kept this news to themselves for some time but are glad it is now public.”

A source from the set previously mentioned that no one suspected Robbie was pregnant while she worked on her latest project, A Big Bold Beautiful Journey. Despite long days of filming, Robbie remained highly professional and focused on her work.

“Margot looked fantastic and appeared very content,” the source remarked. “She had a great rapport with Colin Farrell, and they enjoyed the filming process together.”

Robbie’s first major acting project since Barbie in 2023 is A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, where she stars alongside Farrell.

The couple, who are expecting their first child, first met in 2013 on the set of the World War II drama Suite Française. Ackerley was working as an assistant director while Robbie had a role in the film.

In December 2016, three years later, Robbie and Ackerley exchanged vows in a private ceremony in Byron Bay, Australia, without announcing their engagement beforehand.

Recently, Robbie shared a selfie on Instagram from the set of her standalone film, Birds of Prey, in full Harley Quinn costume. In the image, she sported Harley’s signature white makeup with a vibrant red lip and a black heart on her right cheekbone. The caption read, ‘Miss me? ?HQ,’ creating buzz among fans before the movie’s release in February 2020.

In the 2019 film Dreamland, Robbie portrayed a stunning bank robber on the run from the FBI in the 1930s. The movie showcased Robbie in vintage attire, including curly hair, feminine dresses, and classic oxfords.
