DALLAS — Anthony Davis is expected to be out for at least two more weeks due to a groin injury he incurred during his debut with the Mavericks. The team announced on Thursday that their star forward is showing positive signs of recovery.
In his first game with Dallas against the Houston Rockets on February 8th, Davis had a stellar performance, dominating the first half. However, he suffered an injury late in the third quarter as the Mavericks secured a 116-105 victory.
Prior to this, Davis had missed a couple of games with the Lakers due to an abdominal issue. This was before a significant trade that sent superstar Luka Doncic to Los Angeles. After the trade, Davis was unavailable for the first two games he could have played for Dallas, eventually making his appearance against the Rockets.
The groin injury has only heightened the scrutiny faced by Dallas general manager Nico Harrison, as many Mavericks fans expressed their frustration over the recent trade decisions. The team is left navigating the aftermath of this injury while hoping for a swift recovery for Davis.
