Angel Reese’s social media post reveals wrist injury causing her to miss the rest of the WNBA season

Angel Reese revealed on social media that she has sustained a season-ending injury in her wrist. She explained that she has a small crack in a bone, necessitating surgery scheduled for Tuesday. Reese emphasized the importance of the surgery to prevent potential long-term issues such as arthritis and further damage to the bone.

The injury occurred when she fell on her hand during a game, resulting in the small crack. Doctors advised her that without surgery, there could be risks of complications such as arthritis at a young age. Following the procedure, Reese will be in a hard cast for four weeks and then transition to a soft cast for an additional two weeks. She highlighted the challenges of healing in that specific area due to limited blood flow.

Reese, who was the No. 7 pick in the draft, had an impressive season averaging 13.6 points and 13.1 rebounds, making history with the highest rebound average in the WNBA. She also set a rookie record with 26 double-doubles. Reese has had a significant impact on the league alongside fellow rookie Caitlin Clark.

Despite the setback, Reese remains determined to continue training and engaging in off-court activities throughout her recovery period. She also clarified false rumors circulating on social media, dismissing claims of her being pregnant and emphasizing her focus on her basketball career and personal ventures.

Chicago, currently holding the final playoff position in the WNBA, will continue their push for the postseason without Reese. The team faces Washington in an upcoming game, with their playoff hopes hanging in the balance as they strive for a successful conclusion to the season.
