Amy Schumer’s Ozempic nightmare: vomiting and no energy

Amy Schumer jumped on the Ozempic train, but it quickly turned into a nightmare. The comedian, 43, recently shared her terrifying experience on The Howard Stern Show. The weight-loss medication, originally for Type 2 diabetes, left her struggling with intense side effects.

Severe side effects: vomiting and no energy

Schumer revealed that her body didn’t respond well to Ozempic. She has a gene, GDF15, which makes her more prone to nausea. “I was bedridden. I was vomiting nonstop,” Schumer admitted. “It was horrible. No energy. I couldn’t lift my head off the pillow.” She lost 30 pounds quickly, but the cost was high. “I looked great, but I couldn’t play with my son. What’s the point?”

Ozempic: popular but risky

The medication, a semaglutide injection, has become a popular off-label choice for weight loss. However, Schumer’s experience was far from pleasant. “Other people take it and they’re fine, but not me,” she explained.

Schumer calls out celebrity weight loss claims

It wasn’t Schumer’s first time addressing the Ozempic craze. Last year, she called out celebrities who claimed to lose weight by eating “smaller portions.” She wasn’t having it. “You’re on Ozempic or got work done. Just stop lying,” Schumer said during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live!

James Corden’s Ozempic struggles

Schumer’s Ozempic journey wasn’t the only one to make headlines. TV host James Corden also opened up about his disappointing experience with the drug. On his podcast This Life of Mine, he admitted it “didn’t really work” for him. “It just made me not hungry. But I don’t eat because I’m hungry. I eat because I want to,” Corden explained.

He shared a funny story of his love for food, saying he once ate a giant Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate bar in a car wash—not because he was hungry, but because he simply wanted it.

Schumer’s cautionary tale serves as a reminder that not everyone will have the same results with Ozempic. While some may lose weight, others, like Schumer, may face dangerous side effects.
