LEWISBURG, Pa. — On Sunday, former MLB icon Alex Rodriguez showcased his talents in basketball, successfully completing a half-court shot that awarded a Bucknell University student with a prize of $10,000.
Rodriguez, a 14-time All-Star, was asked to attempt this challenging shot during the halftime intermission of a basketball game between Bucknell and Army, where the Bison triumphed with a score of 84-53. The 49-year-old athlete launched a remarkable high-arc shot that ricocheted off the backboard and swished through the net, sparking enthusiastic celebrations among the student body.
In addition to his impressive shooting feat, Rodriguez was at Bucknell to promote his venture, Jump Platforms, which he co-founded with fellow entrepreneurs Jordy Leiser and Marc Lore. Notably, both Leiser and Lore are Bucknell alumni, and Leiser serves on the university’s board of trustees.
Over the course of his illustrious baseball career, Rodriguez hit a total of 696 home runs while playing for the Seattle Mariners, Texas Rangers, and the New York Yankees. His contributions to both sports and business continue to resonate with fans and students alike.
