Alabama prison guard accused of trafficking methamphetamine into facility

Atmore, Alabama – A facility correctional officer has been taken into custody on allegations of bringing methamphetamine into the maximum-security prison at which she was employed.

The 48-year-old officer faces multiple felony charges, including attempting to distribute a controlled substance, promoting contraband within the prison, and exploiting her official position for personal gain, as indicated by arrest documentation.

The accusations state that she brought meth into the Holman Correctional Facility in Atmore and subsequently transferred it to an inmate. Authorities arrested her on Wednesday.

Holman Correctional Facility is noted as the primary facility housing death row inmates in Alabama and is uniquely designated as the state’s only facility authorized to conduct executions, according to the state’s Department of Corrections.
