Frank Dooley honored in National Hall of Fame for NM Sports

Now, he receives recognition for his hard work and dedication. The National High School Athletic Coaches Association Hall of Fame welcomes him as a new member.

A strong start at Deming High School and impressive achievements

Dooley’s coaching journey began at Deming High School, his alma mater. He became most famous for his time as the head coach of the Deming basketball team. From 1963 to 1979, Dooley led the Wildcats to great success. Under his leadership, the team won four state championships and ten district titles. His teams also had a 72% win rate. In 2010, Deming honored him by naming the basketball court after him. This was a huge recognition of his work and lasting influence. Frank Dooley’s influence is greatly felt at Deming, marking his beginning in this journey.

Frank Dooley – A multi-sport coach who also taught math

While Dooley is known for his work with basketball, he didn’t limit himself to just one sport. Over the years, he also coached tennis, football, and wrestling. His coaching career took him to many schools. He worked at Silver, Alamogordo, Mayfield, Cibola, and St. Pius. Dooley wasn’t just a coach. He also worked as a math teacher, sharing his knowledge in the classroom. The versatility displayed by Frank Dooley in many sports embodies his commitment.

At 92, Frank Dooley finally earns a much-deserved honor. The National High School Athletic Coaches Association Hall of Fame will officially welcome him on June 24 in South Dakota. This recognition highlights his years of dedication to coaching and teaching. His influence on high school sports will continue to inspire future generations.
