Depp Breaks Silence on #MeToo and Truth

In a revealing new interview, Johnny Depp MeToo comments have reignited headlines. Speaking to The Sunday Times, Depp said he felt like the โ€œcrash test dummyโ€ for the movement, referencing the abuse allegations made by ex-wife Amber Heard in 2016.

The accusations triggered two major trials. Depp lost a 2020 libel case in the U.K. after being called a โ€œwife beaterโ€ by The Sun. But in 2022, he won part of a U.S. defamation case against Heard over an op-ed she wrote in The Washington Post.

โ€œIโ€™ll Fight to the Bitter Endโ€

Depp said he never felt nervous the night before his U.S. trial. โ€œIf youโ€™re just speaking the truth? Roll the dice,โ€ he told the outlet.

He explained that standing down wasnโ€™t an option. โ€œIf I donโ€™t try to represent the truth, it will be like Iโ€™ve actually committed the acts I am accused of,โ€ Depp said. โ€œAnd my kids will have to live with it.โ€

The Johnny Depp MeToo narrative, he argued, had spiraled beyond control. โ€œEveryone was saying, โ€˜Itโ€™ll go away!โ€™ But I canโ€™t trust that.โ€

Return to the Big Screen

Despite his Hollywood exile during the trials, Depp is making a comeback. Heโ€™ll reunite with Penelope Cruz in Day Drinker, set for release in 2026. It marks a full-circle moment after his departure from Fantastic Beasts.

No Regrets

Looking back, Depp is unapologetic. โ€œI have no regrets about anything,โ€ he said. โ€œBecause, truly, what can we do about last weekโ€™s dinner? Not a fucking thing.โ€

His fight, he says, wasnโ€™t just about image. It was about truthโ€”and heโ€™s still standing.
