Helicopter Crash Victims Identified: Siemens CEO and Family Dead

A happy family from Spain came to New York City for a vacation. They wanted to see the city from the sky, so they booked a helicopter tour. Photos on the New York Helicopter Tours website show them smiling in front of the helicopter before takeoff. The family looked excited. They were bundled up for the chilly weather. Sadly, just minutes later, the helicopter crashed into the Hudson River. All five family members died in the helicopter crash.

The Victims Were From Barcelona and Included Three Children

The father, Agustin Escobar, was the CEO of Siemens in Spain. His wife was Merce Camprubi Montal. They had three young children with them. The kids looked like they were in middle school or even younger. The family had just arrived in New York from Barcelona that same day. They wanted to enjoy the sights, but the trip ended in a terrible way. The helicopter crash happened around 3:15 in the afternoon.

Helicopter Broke Apart Before Falling Into the Hudson River

Witnesses said the helicopter broke in the air before falling. It dropped fast and hit the cold, murky waters of the Hudson River. The exact cause of the crash is still unknown. Police and investigators are looking into what went wrong. Four people were pronounced dead right at the scene. Two more, including children, were taken to the hospital but did not survive the crash.

Pilot’s Name Not Released and Investigation Continues

The pilot’s name has not been released yet. Officials are still investigating the helicopter crash. The helicopter was a Bell 206L-4 LongRanger IV, used often for sightseeing tours. It is not clear if there was a mechanical issue or something else. Until the full report is out, we may not know what caused the crash.

Friends Say Escobar Was a Family Man First

Agustin Escobar was not just a top boss. He was a kind and steady person, according to friends. Juan Ignacio Diaz, a friend and former co-worker, said Escobar always stayed calm, even during tough times. He had a peaceful way about him and cared deeply for his wife and kids.

A Successful Career That Reached Around the World

Escobar worked at Siemens for many years. He led projects in Spain, the United States, South America, and Germany. In late 2022, he became the CEO of Siemens Spain. He also became the global head of Siemens’ rail division. His work helped shape the future of trains and transport. But to those who knew him best, work wasn’t his main focus. Family always came first.

Friends say Escobar was someone you could always count on. He was loyal and supportive. He loved his family deeply. He was not just a smart businessman, but also a fun and loving father. “He was always there when you needed him,” said Diaz. “He was a true family man. I will miss him and his family so much. I love you, my friend.”
