RALEIGH, N.C. — Jack Roslovic has made a triumphant return to wearing his cherished No. 96 jersey, reigniting his performance on the ice for the Carolina Hurricanes.
Roslovic, playing as center, notched a goal in his second consecutive game, adding to a total of four points over three games since he donned the number once more. On Friday night against Detroit, Roslovic deftly received a pass at the net’s side, slipping the puck past goalkeeper Petr Mrázek to shatter a 1-1 deadlock in the second period. He further contributed by assisting on another goal, culminating in a 4-2 victory for the Hurricanes.
His return to the number yielded immediate results, with Roslovic securing an assist against Winnipeg on Sunday during his initial game in No. 96, followed by a goal against Tampa Bay on Tuesday.
Previously, Roslovic relinquished the number to Mikko Rantanen when he joined the Hurricanes following a trade in January. In return, Roslovic received a Rolex watch. However, as Rantanen was traded to Dallas at the deadline after failing to negotiate a contract extension with Carolina, Roslovic seized the opportunity to reclaim his favored jersey.
While wearing No. 98, Roslovic’s performance lagged, tallying only two goals and two assists over 14 games. Now, he looks forward to continuing his revitalized game, epitomized by his return to No. 96.
