A mysterious transgender vegan cult known as the “Zizians” has been linked to six murders, including the shocking killing of a Vermont border agent.
Investigators are uncovering a dark web of bizarre rituals, extremist beliefs, and eerie connections between cult members and multiple violent crimes.
Border agent murder exposes deadly network
The group’s connection to crime gained attention after the January 2025 murder of border agent David Christopher Maland during a traffic stop in Vermont. Two suspects, Felix “Ophelia” Bauckholt and Teresa Youngblut, were found in possession of firearms tied to previous killings. Bauckholt was killed in the shootout, while Youngblut was arrested and faces weapons charges.
Parents murdered in their home
Authorities have now linked a firearm from the border agent killing to another crime: the 2022 double murder of Richard and Rita Zajko in Pennsylvania. Their daughter, Michelle Zajko, a known member of the cult, is a person of interest in the case. Investigators are still working to determine the full extent of her involvement.
Disturbing beliefs and rituals
The Zizians operated under a secretive and extreme ideology, mixing radical veganism, transgender identity, and artificial intelligence obsession. Members reportedly engaged in sleep deprivation, hormone experimentation, and eerie rituals, such as walking around naked in gas masks.
Leaders arrested as investigation deepens
Three alleged cult members—Jack “Ziz” Lasota, Michelle Zajko, and Daniel Blank—were arrested in Maryland on charges including trespassing, obstruction, and illegal firearm possession. Authorities believe they are key figures in the organization and may have knowledge of additional crimes.
Authorities race to unravel the mystery
Law enforcement continues to investigate the group, fearing there may be more undiscovered crimes linked to the Zizians. As details emerge, experts warn that the group’s radical beliefs and secretive nature could mean there are more victims yet to be uncovered.
