Gwyneth Paltrow reveals health struggles after LA fires

Gwyneth Paltrow has shared how the Los Angeles wildfires triggered severe menopause symptoms, leading her to drink alcohol “every night” to cope. During an episode of her Goop podcast, the 52-year-old actress described feeling “all over the place” as she battled insomnia and anxiety.

Drinking during the LA wildfires

'But I noticed my symptoms are, like, pretty well under control unless, you know, in January when the fires were happening in L.A. I've, like, used alcohol for its purpose,' the star said

Paltrow admitted that while she rarely drinks, she turned to alcohol in January when fires broke out across Southern California. “I think I drank every night. I was medicating,” she revealed. The fires, which began on January 7, left many displaced, and Paltrow has since donated $2 million in Goop products to support victims.

Severe insomnia and anxiety

The actress explained how menopause has disrupted her sleep. “I’ve always been a real sleeper,” she said, but during this period, she struggled with anxiety that kept her awake for hours. She described lying in bed, overwhelmed by thoughts of past mistakes and people she had hurt.

Experts weigh in on menopause symptoms

Dr. Mary Clare Haver, a guest on the podcast, explained that perimenopause is a time of “hormonal chaos” that can last for years. Paltrow agreed, saying, “I feel like I’ve been in it for years.” She has previously advocated for more open discussions about menopause, challenging the stigma surrounding this natural life transition.

Advocating for open conversations

Paltrow has encouraged women to talk openly about menopause, comparing it to discussions about parenting challenges. “The idea that women have been enshrouded in silence and shame around menopause for years is so crazy,” she said. She hopes to help normalize conversations about aging and women’s health.

Life changes and personal updates

In addition to her health revelations, Paltrow recently sold her Brentwood home for $22 million after initially listing it for $30 million. She also celebrated her ex-husband Chris Martin’s 48th birthday with a heartfelt Instagram tribute, thanking him for their children, Apple and Moses.
