Tsitsipas Wins Dubai, Snaps ATP 500 Finals Drought

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — Stefanos Tsitsipas triumphed in the Dubai Championships final, seizing his first ATP 500 title with a victory over Felix Auger-Aliassime, finishing 6-3, 6-3 on Saturday.

Tsitsipas, ranked 11th in the world, had previously been unsuccessful in 11 ATP 500 finals, including two past attempts in Dubai during 2019 and 2020. However, he overcame this streak in less than 90 minutes to capture his 12th career title and his first of the current season.

“It’s a big relief that I’m able to hold that trophy after the third attempt,” shared Tsitsipas, who had been defeated by Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic in his earlier Dubai finals. “It’s something that I had in the back of my mind, and I’m happy to say I accomplished it.”

The Greek athlete seized the last four games of the opening set and sealed the match with an ace on his first match point. Displaying impeccable defense, Tsitsipas fended off all seven break points he encountered, enhancing his record to 7-3 against Auger-Aliassime. This victory is expected to propel him back into the ATP top 10 rankings for the first time since May.

Felix Auger-Aliassime, ranked 21st, was aiming to achieve a tour-leading third title for the year 2025, having already secured wins in Adelaide and Montpellier this season.
