‘America’s Worst Mayor’ loses in landslide after scandals

Tiffany Henyard, the embattled mayor of Dolton, Illinois, suffered a humiliating defeat in the Democratic primary after years of scandals, mismanagement, and public embarrassment. Village Trustee Jason House obliterated Henyard with 87.9% of the vote, ending what critics called one of the most disastrous mayoral terms in U.S. history.

A spectacular downfall

The Dolton, Illinois mayor has been accused of mismanaging millions of the village's dollars , being derelict on rent , and sinking the village into crippling debt

Despite claiming she had “no competition” and would win in a “landslide,” Henyard could only muster 536 votes—just over 12% of the electorate. House celebrated his landslide victory by dancing to Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us,” a song known for its mocking tone.

“This marks the end of a dark time for Dolton,” House declared.

Years of corruption and reckless spending

Henyard’s defeat comes after a damning 73-page report led by former Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot, which detailed:

  • $779,638 in questionable charges on government credit cards
  • Over $218,000 in Amazon purchases over four years
  • $171,000 in taxpayer-funded travel, including luxury trips to Las Vegas
  • $50,000 in personal restaurant expenses
  • $7,000 spent on her hair and makeup, falsely listed as “assistant” costs

Once overseeing a $5.61 million budget surplus, Henyard’s mismanagement left Dolton drowning in a $3.65 million deficit.

Chaos at town meetings

Jedidiah Brown, a frequent critic of Henyard, made wild accusations against her at the meeting, ending his comments by saying: 'You gone, b****!'

Adding to the spectacle, Henyard was involved in a physical brawl at a December caucus meeting in Thornton Township, where she also serves as supervisor. The melee erupted after activist Jedidiah Brown called her a “b***”* and accused her of “sleeping her way to the top.” Henyard lost her wig, a shoe, and was reportedly thrown to the floor during the chaos.

What’s next for Henyard?

Despite her crushing loss, Henyard refuses to back down, claiming “voter suppression” and vowing to be on the ballot in April for Thornton Township supervisor. When asked about her next move, she cryptically told reporters: “Stay tuned.”

House now faces an independent challenger in the general election on April 1, but for Dolton residents, Henyard’s reign of scandal appears to be over.
