BISMARCK, N.D. — U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer from North Dakota is recuperating in his Bismarck residence after sustaining a head injury due to a fall on ice over the weekend.
On social media, Cramer, who is 64, explained that he was walking behind his house on Sunday when he stepped on an icy patch. The fall resulted in him hitting the back of his head, and the next memory he has is of arriving at the hospital emergency room accompanied by his wife, Kris.
Doctors diagnosed Cramer with a severe concussion, which also led to a seizure and a mild brain bleed. To address the injury on his head, staples were applied by a healthcare professional, and he was subsequently admitted.
Cramer shared on Monday that while it will depend on his day-to-day condition this week, he is prepared to return to Washington, D.C., promptly if necessary. Alongside his message, he included photos that showed a blood smear on the snow and ice, as well as the staples in his head.
By Tuesday, Cramer mentioned that he was experiencing recovery at home in Bismarck, aided by anti-seizure medication. He noted that although his head still had some discomfort, he was getting more sleep.
Having been reelected last year, the Republican Senator is serving his second term.
