BEREA, Ohio — On Monday, the Cleveland Browns executed two significant roster changes involving their long snapper and cornerback positions.

The Browns decided to part ways with Charley Hughlett, the team’s long-standing long snapper. Hughlett had shared the distinction of being the longest-serving player on the team alongside guard Joel Bitonio; both joined the Browns in 2014. Throughout his tenure, Hughlett played in 152 games. However, he was only able to participate in five games this past season before a rib injury put him on the injured reserve list, ending his playing year prematurely.

Andrew Berry, the Browns’ general manager, expressed mixed emotions about the decision, stating it as a “bittersweet transaction for our organization because we hate separating from a valued and long-tenured player for our team.”

To fill the void and strengthen their defense, the Browns signed cornerback Anthony Kendall. Kendall, familiar with the area from his college days at Baldwin-Wallace near the Browns complex, is entering his second season in the NFL. He has previous experience playing in 16 games for the Tennessee Titans in 2013, recording nine tackles. Throughout the recent season, he has been part of the practice squads for both the Titans and the Baltimore Ravens.
