DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — On Monday, the budget airline FlyDubai reported an impressive profit of $611 million for the year 2024, marking a significant increase driven by a surge in passenger traffic and a decline in fuel expenses.

The airline’s revenue reached $3.5 billion, up from $3 billion in 2023. In the previous year, FlyDubai recorded profits of $572 million.

In total, FlyDubai transported 15.4 million passengers during 2024.

FlyDubai operates alongside its sister airline, the long-haul carrier Emirates, both of which are headquartered at Dubai International Airport, the busiest airport in the world for international travel. The resurgence in profitability for both airlines follows the sharp decline in global travel that was caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Both airlines are owned by the Investment Corporation of Dubai, a government entity. They also cooperate on code-share flights, which helps boost passenger numbers on FlyDubai’s routes.

The airline boasts a fleet of 88 aircraft, all of which are Boeing 737 models, and services 131 destinations across 55 countries.

Notably, FlyDubai continued its flights to Israel’s Ben Gurion International Airport during the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict, while many global airlines chose to suspend their operations. The airline commenced these flights following the United Arab Emirates’ recognition of Israel in 2020.
