AUBURN HILLS, Mich. — In a thrilling matchup on Sunday night, Allen David Mukeba Jr. shined with 22 points, steering the Oakland Golden Grizzlies to a narrow 91-86 victory over Cleveland State during overtime.
Mukeba also contributed 12 rebounds, showcasing a stellar performance for his team, now standing at 13-16 overall and 10-8 in the Horizon League. Jayson Woodrich added to Oakland’s success with 20 points, hitting 7 of 13 shots, including 6 of 12 from three-point range. Additionally, D.Q. Cole had an impressive night, scoring 19 points with 4 of 10 shooting overall and an outstanding 9 of 10 from the charity stripe, while also contributing eight assists and seven rebounds.
The tense contest saw Isaiah Jones drive for a layup, putting Oakland ahead 83-81 with just 1:51 on the clock. Following his pivotal play, Cole converted 7 of 8 free throws to secure the win for the Golden Grizzlies. Mukeba had earlier tied the game at 77 with a layup just 28 seconds before the end of regulation, forcing the game into overtime after Je’Shawn Stevenson missed a jumper right at the buzzer.
On the other side, the Cleveland State Vikings, who now boast a record of 19-10 and 13-5 in the conference, were led by Chase Robinson, who tallied 18 points along with four assists and two steals. Je’Shawn Stevenson also made a notable contribution with 16 points and three steals, while Tahj Staveskie added 15 points to the effort.
