DURHAM, N.H. — In a thrilling finish, Sami Pissis sank a buzzer-beating 3-pointer from the left wing, giving New Hampshire a narrow 80-79 victory over UMass-Lowell on Saturday. Pissis had an impressive game, leading the Wildcats with 21 points and also providing six assists.
New Hampshire, now with a record of 7-20 and 5-7 in the America East Conference, saw solid contributions from its players. Anthony McComb III added 16 points to the scoreboard, shooting 7 for 13 overall, although he did not make any of his three attempts from beyond the arc. Khalil Badru chipped in with 13 points, hitting 5 out of 8 from the field, along with two successful 3-point attempts, but struggled at the foul line, making just one of three free throws.
On the other side, the River Hawks, now 15-11 overall and 4-7 in conference play, were led by Quinton Mincey, who scored 23 points, showcasing his prowess on the court. Max Brooks also had a strong performance, contributing 20 points. Additionally, Cam Morris III made his presence felt with 15 points, six rebounds, four steals, and two blocks, providing a well-rounded effort for his team.
Looking ahead, both teams will be back in action on Thursday. New Hampshire will travel to face Binghamton, while UMass-Lowell will take on UMBC at home, looking to bounce back from the close loss.
