EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. — In an exciting matchup on Thursday night, Tarence Guinyard led the way for UT Martin, scoring 23 points to help the Skyhawks secure a 76-71 victory over SIU-Edwardsville.
Guinyard demonstrated his scoring ability, shooting 8-for-20 overall, with an impressive 4-for-9 from beyond the arc and making 3 of 4 attempts from the free-throw line. His performance was crucial for the Skyhawks, who improved their record to 11 wins and 15 losses, with a conference tally of 7-8 in the Ohio Valley Conference. Matija Zuzic contributed significantly as well, adding 12 points along with five rebounds, while Josue Grullon chipped in with 11 points.
On the other side, the Cougars were led by Ring Malith, who had a strong performance with 22 points, seven rebounds, and two steals. Brian Taylor II supported the team with 16 points, five assists, and three steals, while Ray’Sean Taylor provided eight points along with seven assists and two steals.
Looking ahead, both teams are set to compete again on Saturday. UT Martin will travel to Eastern Illinois, while SIU-Edwardsville will play host to Tennessee State in what promises to be another thrilling set of games.
