CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. — In a recent matchup, Sai Witt led Austin Peay to a 73-60 victory over FGCU, contributing 18 points to the team’s success on Thursday evening.
Witt also grabbed six rebounds for the Governors, improving their record to 11 wins and 15 losses, with 6 wins and 7 losses in the Atlantic Sun Conference. Tate McCubbin played a notable role as well, netting 15 points while shooting impressively with 5 out of 7 attempts, including a remarkable 5 from 6 beyond the three-point line. Additionally, he contributed three steals to the team’s effort. LJ Thomas added to the team’s scoring with 15 points, hitting 7 of 12 shots from the field.
Dallion Johnson was the standout scorer for FGCU, finishing the game with 24 points. Zavian McLean also made a significant contribution with 12 points and six rebounds, but it wasn’t enough to secure a win for the Eagles, who now stand at 14 wins and 12 losses overall, with a conference record of 9 wins and 4 losses.
Looking ahead, both teams are set to compete again on Saturday. Austin Peay will be hosting Stetson, while FGCU will travel to face Lipscomb, looking to bounce back after this loss.
