MILWAUKEE — In a thrilling matchup, Damian Lillard delivered an outstanding performance by scoring a season-high 43 points, contributing eight assists and seven rebounds. This impressive display helped the Milwaukee Bucks secure a 135-127 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday.

Gary Trent Jr. also made his mark by adding a season-best 23 points, while Bobby Portis recorded a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds. The Bucks played without their two-time MVP, Giannis Antetokounmpo, who missed his fourth consecutive game due to a strained left calf. Bucks coach Doc Rivers indicated that Giannis is likely to remain sidelined until after the All-Star break.

For the 76ers, Tyrese Maxey was the standout player, scoring 39 points and extending his streak to 18 games of at least 25 points. Joel Embiid followed with 27 points, and Guerschon Yabusele contributed 18 points to the effort.

Milwaukee managed to end a difficult stretch, achieving only their second victory in the last seven games. This matchup also marked the Bucks’ second home game in their last nine outings. Meanwhile, Philadelphia faced challenges, suffering their third consecutive defeat and five losses in their last six games.

The game was highly competitive, with 22 lead changes occurring within the first 27 minutes. However, the 76ers struggled in the second half, falling behind by as many as 25 points.

Milwaukee also featured new additions to their roster. This was the first game at home since acquiring Kyle Kuzma in a trade that sent three-time All-Star Khris Middleton to the Washington Wizards. Kuzma started Sunday’s game after coming off the bench in his Bucks debut, finishing with 13 points, eight rebounds, and five assists. The other two players acquired at the trade deadline—center Jericho Sims and guard/forward Kevin Porter Jr.—were present in uniform but did not see playtime.

A crucial moment in the game came when Lillard made a 3-pointer that put Milwaukee ahead permanently at 70-69 with 9:19 left in the third quarter. In terms of statistics, the Bucks achieved season highs with points scored, 3-point baskets, and field-goal attempts, totaling 24 and 105, respectively.

Looking ahead, the Bucks are set to host the Golden State Warriors on Monday, while the 76ers will welcome the Toronto Raptors on Tuesday.
