The Milwaukee Brewers have signed right-handed pitcher Elvin Rodríguez to a contract for the current season, which carries a base salary of $900,000. However, only $300,000 of this amount is guaranteed.
As part of the contract finalized on January 17, the Brewers have a team option worth $1.35 million for the 2026 season. Additionally, Rodríguez has the opportunity to earn up to $250,000 in performance bonuses based on his innings pitched. Specifically, he can receive $25,000 for reaching 30 innings, $50,000 for 45, 60, and 75 innings, and $75,000 if he pitches 90 innings.
Rodríguez, who is 26 years old, had a successful stint last season with the Yakult Swallows in Japan’s Central League. During his time there, he recorded a 1.80 earned run average (ERA), one save, and a record of 1-1 over 32 games.
In contrast, his performance in Major League Baseball has been challenging. Rodríguez is currently 0-4 with a 9.55 ERA over eight appearances, which include five starts. His major league experience consists of seven games played with the Detroit Tigers in 2022 and one game with the Tampa Bay Rays in 2023.
