DENVER — In a recent match between the Colorado Avalanche and the Winnipeg Jets, linesman Jonny Murray exited the game during the third period after initially returning following an incident in the second period.
The collision occurred when Avalanche defenseman Devon Toews and Jets forward Kyle Connor were battling for the puck along the boards. While in play, Murray was struck near his right knee at 7:26 into the second period.
He tumbled to the ice, remaining down on his hands and knees as Avalanche medical staff rushed to his side.
After receiving assistance, he managed to stand up and was escorted off the ice by the Avalanche trainers.
During the remainder of the second period, Tyson Baker took over as the sole linesman. Although Murray returned to the ice to start the third period, he later departed and did not rejoin the game.
