QUEBEC CITY — Kati Tabin had an impressive performance, registering a goal and an assist for her first points of the season as the Montréal Victoire narrowly defeated the Ottawa Charge with a score of 2-1 on Sunday in front of a packed house at the Videotron Centre.
Tabin’s decisive goal came during a power play in the third period and ultimately secured the victory for her team. Prior to that, she had also contributed to the team by providing an assist on Catherine Dubois’ power-play goal late in the second period, which marked the first score of the game with only 31 seconds remaining.
In goal, Ann-Renée Desbiens was outstanding, making 26 saves, which helped the Victoire raise their points total to 23, putting them three points ahead of the reigning champion Minnesota team. For the Ottawa Charge, Shiann Darkangelo netted her fourth goal of the season, while Emerance Maschmeyer was solid in net, saving 33 shots. The Charge currently sits in fourth place in the league with 14 points.
The match in Quebec City attracted a vibrant crowd, with an official attendance of 18,259 fans. This game was part of the PWHL’s Takeover Tour, featuring neutral-site games as the league explores the possibility of adding up to two new teams by the upcoming season.
