KANSAS CITY, Mo. — During the playoff matchup against Houston on Saturday, Chiefs safety Bryan Cook underwent a concussion evaluation but was given the green light to return to the game. In a contrasting turn of events, Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair sustained a knee injury and was later deemed questionable for further participation.
In the first quarter, Cook’s helmet made contact with that of Houston wide receiver Nico Collins as he executed a tackle. Following the collision, Cook was taken to the medical tent for assessment. Although he briefly exited the game and walked to the locker room without his helmet, he made his return to the sidelines at the beginning of the second half. He subsequently re-entered the game on the Chiefs’ opening drive of the second half.
Al-Shaair, who had already been a concern due to his knee, missed practice on Tuesday. His participation was limited during practices on Wednesday and Thursday, and he ultimately left the game with the injury. The situation surrounding his recovery continues to develop as the game proceeds.
