EASTON, Pa. — In a decisive victory on Saturday, Colgate triumphed over Lafayette with a score of 90-67, largely thanks to a standout performance by Nicolas Louis-Jacques, who contributed 21 points to the team’s success.
Louis-Jacques was highly efficient, sinking 8 of his 11 shots from the field, which included 5 for 7 from beyond the arc. The Raiders improved their record to 8-11 overall and 5-1 in the Patriot League. Jeff Woodward also had a significant impact on the game, scoring 17 points while achieving an impressive shooting percentage of 6 for 9 from the field and 5 for 6 from the free-throw line. He supplemented his scoring with eight rebounds and five assists. Jalen Cox added 11 points to the scoreboard while grabbing nine rebounds, shooting 5 for 8.
For the Leopards, Andrew Phillips led his team with 18 points, in addition to securing seven rebounds and two steals. Justin Vander Baan played a solid game as well, adding 17 points and pulling down six rebounds, while also contributing two steals and three blocks. Alex Chaikin rounded out the scoring for Lafayette with 12 points and three steals.
Colgate seized control of the game right at the start. They established an early lead that they never gave up, leading 51-30 at halftime, with Louis-Jacques accounting for 10 of those points. A strong start to the second half included a 7-0 run that allowed Colgate to extend their lead from 19 to 26 points. Even in the second half, they maintained their momentum by outscoring Lafayette by a margin of two points, with Louis-Jacques leading the scoring charge by contributing 11 points in that period.
