NEW YORK — Rap artist Busta Rhymes has been accused of physically assaulting another individual, as reported by local authorities on Friday.
According to police, whose real name is Trevor Smith, he received a desk appearance ticket on Tuesday for third-degree assault, a misdemeanor, linked to an altercation in Brooklyn that occurred on January 10.
Officers who responded to a 911 call that evening in Dumbo, Brooklyn, found a 50-year-old man who claimed he had been in a dispute with another man who struck him in the face multiple times. The injured individual was subsequently taken to the hospital due to swelling on the left side of his face, as stated by the police.
The district attorney’s office in Brooklyn confirmed that Smith is scheduled to appear in court on February 3; however, they did not provide additional details regarding the case at this time.
Busta Rhymes, who is now 52 years old, is recognized for his hit tracks such as “Break Ya Neck,” “Touch It,” and “Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See.”
An inquiry seeking comments was directed to an individual believed to be Rhymes’ publicist.
