DENVER — In a decisive matchup on Wednesday evening, the Mavericks from Omaha triumphed over the Denver Pioneers with a score of 80-62. This win marked Omaha’s seventh consecutive victory, improving their record to 11-9 overall and 5-0 in the Summit League.
Tony Osburn spearheaded the Mavericks’ offense, contributing 15 points and securing five rebounds. JJ White matched his effort with 15 points as well, achieving an impressive 6-of-11 shooting performance, which included making three out of seven attempts from three-point range. Additionally, Ja’Sean Glover showcased his efficiency by shooting a perfect 4-for-4 from the field and successfully converting all five of his free throws, finishing the game with 13 points.
On the side of the Pioneers, Josh Pickett emerged as the team’s leading scorer with 16 points. His performance was complemented by Sebastian Akins, who also contributed 16 points along with four assists and two blocks. Abdulai Fanta Kabba added to the Pioneers’ efforts with 10 points, eight rebounds, combined with two steals and two blocks. However, the setback marked the eighth consecutive loss for Denver, leaving them with a record of 6-14 and winless in their last five Summit League games.
Looking ahead, both teams are set to face St. Thomas in their next games, with Omaha playing at home on Thursday and Denver hitting the road for their match on Saturday.
