CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — Northern Iowa achieved a convincing victory over Evansville, finishing the game with a score of 73-56, thanks to the contributions of Tytan Anderson, who scored 15 points.
Anderson not only scored but also grabbed eight rebounds for the Panthers, who now hold a record of 11-7 overall and 5-2 in the Missouri Valley Conference. Will Hornseth was another standout, hitting 5 of his 6 shots from the field to add 12 points to the scoreboard. Ben Schwieger also contributed to the team’s efforts with 10 points, although his shooting performance was less efficient, making 2 of 8 attempts from the floor, 1 of 5 from beyond the arc, and converting 5 of 8 free-throw attempts.
For the Purple Aces, Tayshawn Comer was the leading scorer, finishing the night with 18 points alongside seven rebounds and four steals. Cameron Haffner also made significant contributions, putting up 13 points, eight rebounds, and two steals. Michael Day added to the total with nine points.
The game saw Northern Iowa take control approximately seven and a half minutes into the first half, holding onto that lead throughout the game. Anderson was particularly effective in the first half, scoring 10 points and helping the Panthers to a 32-18 lead by halftime.
In the second half, Northern Iowa pulled ahead decisively with an impressive 11-2 run, expanding their lead from 10 points to 19 points. The Panthers continued to outperform Evansville in the second half, outscoring them by three points as Hornseth led his teammates with a notable 10 points during that period.
