HAMPTON, Va. — In a thrilling contest, George Beale tallied 18 points to propel Hampton to an 83-77 victory over Delaware on Saturday.
Beale showcased his shooting prowess, going 8 for 14 from the floor, including a solid 2 for 4 beyond the arc, contributing significantly to the Pirates’ overall performance. Teammate Trevor Smith was also instrumental, hitting 5 of 10 shots with a pair of 3-pointers and perfecting his free-throw attempts, finishing with 16 points. Additionally, Kyrese Mullen made his presence felt, adding 14 points to the scoreboard.
On the opposing side, the Fightin’ Blue Hens saw a standout performance from John Camden, who led his team with 20 points as well as five assists. Cavan Reilly was another key contributor with 18 points, while Erik Timko rounded out their efforts with 11 points and five assists.
Hampton established a significant lead in the second half, transforming a manageable six-point advantage into a commanding 13-point lead following a decisive 7-0 scoring run, pushing the score to 73-60 with just 6:25 remaining. Beale was instrumental during this stretch, scoring nine points in the second half to help secure the win for his team.
