NEWARK, N.J. — Emily Clark netted a goal midway through the second period, extending Ottawa’s lead to two goals, while goaltender Emerance Maschmeyer secured her 21st save in the final moments, allowing the Charge to claim a 3-2 victory over the New York Sirens on Tuesday evening. This match marked the second clash between the two teams within a span of 10 days.

Ottawa improved its record to 4-0-1-3, marking their third consecutive win, which includes a previous 3-1 triumph over the Sirens on December 29.

The loss for New York brought their record to 3-1-1-3, dropping them to fourth place in the PWHL standings, now sitting just one point behind Ottawa.

Less than six minutes into the game, Danielle Serdachny, the second overall pick in the 2024 draft, managed to equalize by redirecting a well-placed pass from Ottawa’s Victoria Bach right in front of the goal, making the score 1-1.

Ottawa regained the lead at 2-1 when Shiann Darkangelo scored with an easy tap-in following an unexpected puck bounce off a referee’s skate during the first period.

Clark added her third goal of the season shortly after, lifting a bouncing puck past New York’s goalie Kayle Osborne for a 3-1 advantage.

This match was Osborne’s first start of the season. New York initially took the lead with Ella Shelton’s first goal of the year. Later on, Maja Nylen Persson, the No. 10 overall draft pick, struck her first goal in the PWHL with just 13 minutes remaining in the third period.
