WINNIPEG, Manitoba — Gabriel Vilardi netted two power-play goals within a minute during the third period, leading the Winnipeg Jets to a 3-0 shutout of the Nashville Predators on Monday night. This victory marked the Jets’ fourth consecutive win.

Connor Hellebuyck stood tall in the net, stopping 22 shots, which secured his fifth shutout of the current season and the 42nd of his NHL career. Additionally, defenseman Dylan DeMelo scored his first goal of the season in front of a sold-out crowd at Canada Life Centre. Kyle Connor and Nikolaj Ehlers both contributed significantly with two assists each.

With this win, the Jets improved to a record of 9-2-1 over their last 12 games, bouncing back from a tough stretch that included a season-high four-game losing streak. Meanwhile, the Predators are now facing their second successive loss, with a 3-2-1 record in their last six games and a disappointing 4-6-1 in their last 11.

Juuse Saros was the goaltender for Nashville, recording 25 saves throughout the match. Connor has now extended his point streak to seven games, accumulating six goals and nine assists during this period.

Takeaways from the game indicate that Nashville managed to stay competitive by fending off three of Winnipeg’s power-play opportunities, yet they could not maintain their momentum to avoid conceding further goals. They also failed to convert on their two chances with the man advantage.

For the Jets, they initially struggled to implement their aggressive style of play until late in the second period. But once DeMelo scored, it sparked a shift in their intensity and effort on the ice.

A critical moment in the game occurred when Predators defenseman Jeremy Lauzon committed his third penalty with 7:43 left, followed shortly by a too-many-men penalty. This situation gave the Jets a two-man advantage for 48 seconds, leading to Vilardi scoring just 15 seconds later, putting the home team ahead 2-0, followed by another goal on the subsequent opportunity.

Notably, the Jets have an impressive record of 19-0-1 when leading after two periods, contrasting sharply with the Predators’ struggles—just 1-15-2 when trailing at that point in the game.

Looking ahead, the Predators are set to visit the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday, while the Jets will head to face the Colorado Avalanche the same day.
