MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. — In an exhilarating triple-overtime battle on Sunday, Amarion Dickerson shone brightly, scoring 27 points and grabbing 15 rebounds, leading Robert Morris to a hard-fought 97-93 victory over Northern Kentucky.
Dickerson not only excelled offensively but also made a significant defensive impact with five blocked shots and three steals, playing a crucial role in the Colonials’ (9-5, 1-2 Horizon League) performance. Sophomore Alvaro Folgueiras contributed greatly with a personal best of 21 points, 19 rebounds, and six assists, while DJ Smith chipped in with 13 points.
On the other side, Northern Kentucky’s (7-7, 2-1) offensive efforts were spearheaded by LJ Wells who recorded 19 points and 13 rebounds, along with two steals. Trey Robinson also had a noteworthy performance, scoring 17 points alongside six rebounds. Randall Pettus II matched Robinson’s score with 17 points as well, but the team’s five-game winning streak ultimately came to a halt with this loss.
The turning point in the final moments came when Dickerson executed a powerful dunk, propelling Robert Morris ahead 94-92 with just 26 seconds remaining in the third overtime. Dilen Miller then secured the win by sinking two free throws with only three seconds left on the clock.
The game had already seen dramatic twists, including Josh Dilling hitting one of his two free throws with eight seconds remaining—this scenario forced a second overtime after the teams ended the fourth quarter tied at 80. Wells then nailed a crucial 3-pointer with 2:05 left, but no further scoring occurred, pushing the match into a third overtime, tied at 86 points.
