BATON ROUGE, La. – In a strong showing, the LSU Tigers defeated the New Orleans Privateers 86-70 on Sunday, benefiting from a solid performance in the second half. Vyctorius Miller contributed significantly off the bench with 17 points, while both Cam Carter and freshman Corey Chest recorded double-doubles, helping LSU improve to a 10-2 record with an unblemished mark of 8-0 at home this season.

Miller demonstrated his shooting prowess, hitting 6 of 10 attempts, including three shots from beyond the arc. Carter’s efforts included 14 points and 11 rebounds, marking his first double-double of the current campaign. Chest also made his mark with 12 points and 10 rebounds, achieving the first double-double of his collegiate career.

Additionally, Dji Bailey added a valuable 12 points and seven rebounds, while Jordan Sears chipped in with 10 points to further bolster the Tigers’ offense.

On the opposing side, James White led the Privateers with an impressive 24 points and 11 rebounds, earning his second double-double of the season. New Orleans, however, struggled to turn their fortunes around, extending their losing streak to five games—all of which took place on the road—resulting in a 2-9 overall record.

The first half was tightly contested, with Carter scoring nine points to help LSU take a narrow 30-29 lead into halftime, despite White’s strong contribution of 13 points for New Orleans. The Tigers recorded a shooting percentage of 40.6%, while struggling from long range, missing 14 of their 16 three-point attempts. Meanwhile, the Privateers managed a 31.4% shooting rate, missing 8 of their 10 attempts from three.

New Orleans made a push at the beginning of the second half, with White scoring to briefly give them the lead. Following a pair of free throws from MJ Thomas that tied the game at 38, LSU responded dramatically. Carter drained a three-pointer, and alongside Miller, they fueled an 18-0 run that solidified the Tigers’ position as they surged ahead comfortably.

In the second half, LSU capitalized on their opportunities, shooting 50% from the floor and outscoring New Orleans 56-41. Looking ahead, LSU will host Mississippi Valley State on Sunday, while New Orleans is set to battle McNeese on Saturday.
