Olympic mogul skiing titleholder Jakara Anthony sustains injury, heads back to Australia.

In a recent announcement, it has been confirmed that Jakara Anthony, the reigning champion from the Beijing Olympics, will be unable to participate in the upcoming World Cup moguls competition in Georgia due to undergoing surgery on a fractured collarbone. Her manager shared this update on Friday.

The Australian skier had begun her season with promising results, securing a second-place finish in Ruka, Finland, followed by a victory in Idre Fjäll, Sweden, just last weekend. Unfortunately, while training for the dual moguls event in Sweden, she suffered the collarbone injury. Despite this setback, she was able to compete briefly when the event was ultimately canceled due to poor visibility.

Manager Julia Brukner stated, “Jakara sustained an injury during World Cup training at Idre Fjäll that will rule her out of the upcoming event in Georgia. She has had surgery on her collarbone in Oslo and will travel to Australia to commence her rehab.”

Looking ahead, the next Winter Olympics are scheduled to take place in February 2026 in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy. Following this weekend’s canceled World Cup round in Alpe d’Huez, France, Anthony had been aiming for the competition in Bakuriani, Georgia, set for December 20-21, where she hoped to defend her titles in both singles and dual moguls from last season.

As it stands, the 26-year-old athlete is currently tied at the top of the World Cup standings alongside French skier Perrine Laffont, each holding 180 points after collecting both a gold and silver medal in the first two events of the series. Anthony’s determination and skill will surely be missed as she focuses on her recovery.
