ATLANTA — In a tough first half of the Southeastern Conference championship game against Texas, Georgia quarterback Carson Beck suffered a hit to his throwing hand as the half came to an end, casting doubt on his ability to return for the second half.

 
The incident occurred when Beck was struck by Texas outside linebacker Trey Moore during a pass attempt, resulting in a fumble that was initially recovered by Anthony Hill Jr. Unfortunately for Texas, Hill Jr. lost possession of the ball while trying to extend the play with a lateral pass just as the clock ran out.

Despite their struggles, No. 2 Texas managed to outgain No. 5 Georgia by a large margin, racking up 260 yards compared to Georgia’s mere 54. However, the score only reflected a close 6-3 advantage for Texas at the halftime mark. The Bulldogs faced difficulties on the ground, ending the half with a net of minus-2 rushing yards. Beck managed to complete 7 out of 13 passes, totaling 56 yards.
