GIRONA, Spain — Jude Bellingham requested to be taken off the field due to what seemed to be a minor leg concern after he contributed significantly to Real Madrid’s 3-0 victory over Girona in La Liga on Saturday.
The English midfielder was seen rubbing his inner left thigh while lying on the ground following a challenge with a Girona player. When the 60th minute arrived, and with Madrid leading 2-0, he made his way off the pitch, replacing him with Dani Ceballos. Bellingham took a moment to acknowledge the Madrid supporters by clapping as he exited.
Bellingham’s goal at the start of the match extended his impressive run to five straight league games with at least one goal for Madrid. Following that, he assisted Arda Guler, who scored to increase the lead. After Bellingham left the field, Kylian Mbappé added a third goal to secure the team’s victory.
