CHICAGO — Northern Iowa claimed a solid victory against UIC on Wednesday night, finishing the game at 83-56, with Leon Bond III contributing significantly with a tally of 22 points.
Bond demonstrated efficient shooting, making 9 of his 12 attempts from the floor, which included hitting 2 out of 4 from three-point range.
Additionally, Trey Campbell played a crucial role for the Panthers, scoring 17 points while shooting a remarkable 6 of 9 overall and a perfect 5 for 5 from beyond the arc.
Campbell also contributed five rebounds, five assists, and three steals to the team’s efforts.
Tytan Anderson added 16 points to the scoreboard, connecting on 7 of 11 field goal attempts, while also grabbing seven rebounds and recording three steals despite shooting only 2 of 5 from the charity stripe.
On the opposing side, the Flames were led by Javon Jackson who managed to score 14 points.
UIC’s Sasa Ciani made a notable contribution with 13 points and secured a commanding 17 rebounds.
Modestas Kancleris rounded out the Flames’ performance with 11 points and six rebounds.
Northern Iowa established control of the game with 10:29 remaining in the first half and maintained that advantage for the rest of the match.
By halftime, they were ahead 46-32, with Campbell notably accumulating 15 points.
The Panthers significantly widened their lead in the second half, executing a 14-1 scoring run that transitioned a 13-point lead into a commanding 26-point advantage.
In the second half alone, they outscored UIC by 13 points, with Bond leading the charge by scoring 14 points during that period.
