PALERMO, Calif. — A shooting occurred on Wednesday at an elementary school in Northern California, resulting in the death of the suspected shooter, according to officials from the sheriff’s department.
Authorities reported that deputies were responding to an active shooting incident at the Feather River School of Seventh-Day Adventists in Palermo. The Butte County Sheriff’s Office shared updates on the platform X, but details about whether any individuals at the school were injured have not yet been confirmed.
The sheriff’s department communicated that the suspected shooter is deceased. However, inquiries made via phone and email to the department went unanswered, and a representative from the Butte County Fire Department did not provide any additional information regarding the shooting situation.
In the aftermath, students were transported to the Oroville Church of the Nazarene, where they were being reunited with their families.
Palermo, which has a population of around 5,500 residents, is situated approximately 65 miles (104 kilometers) north of Sacramento.
