TORONTO — In an impressive display, Scottie Barnes recorded a career-high 35 points while RJ Barrett contributed 29 as the Toronto Raptors defeated the Indiana Pacers 122-111 on Tuesday night. This victory marked a continuation of Indiana’s struggles, extending their road losing streak to seven games.

Jakob Poeltl also made a significant impact with 17 points and 10 rebounds, and Ochai Agbaji added 13 points for the Raptors, who managed to establish a commanding lead of 24 points during the third quarter. Barnes showcased his efficient shooting, going 13 for 20 while also contributing nine assists and six rebounds. His previous high of 32 points had been achieved on two occasions prior to this game.

For the Pacers, Tyrese Haliburton led the scoring with 30 points. However, the team has struggled to find success on the road, last securing a win away from home on November 4 against Dallas. Other notable contributions came from Bennedict Mathurin with 17 points, Myles Turner with 16, and Obi Toppin with 15. Indiana’s Pascal Siakam, facing his former team, fouled out with 13 points, shooting only 4-of-13, and he received a technical foul during the fourth quarter.

The Raptors experienced a disappointing outcome in the NBA Cup group play, finishing with a record of 1-3 for the second year in a row, while the Pacers ended the tournament without a win at 0-4. Last season, Indiana went unbeaten in group play, advancing to the inaugural championship game where they fell to the Los Angeles Lakers, but this year they suffered losses in all their group games, totaling a staggering deficit of 60 points.

The Raptors have found some home court advantage, winning their fourth consecutive game at home to improve their season record there to 6-4, although they remain struggling with a poor 1-11 record on the road.

A critical moment came when Agbaji hit a three-pointer with 5:55 left in the game, extending Toronto’s lead to five after the Pacers had narrowed the gap to just two points. Agbaji finished the night shooting a perfect 3 for 3 from beyond the arc.

In terms of turnovers, the Raptors capitalized on eight forced turnovers in the first quarter, resulting in 12 points, and added five more points off four additional Pacers errors in the second quarter. Overall, Indiana’s 21 turnovers led to a significant 23 points for Toronto.

Looking ahead, the Pacers are set to visit Brooklyn on Wednesday, while Toronto will host Oklahoma City on Thursday.
