Bob Bryar, who previously served as the drummer for My Chemical Romance during their pivotal album, “The Black Parade,” has passed away at the age of 44, as confirmed by the band.

A spokesperson for My Chemical Romance conveyed the band’s request for privacy and understanding while they come to terms with the sad news of Bob’s death in a statement released on Sunday.

The announcement did not provide further specifics regarding the circumstances of Bryar’s passing.

Joining the band in 2004, Bryar took over the drumming duties from Matt Pelissier and remained part of My Chemical Romance until 2010. After stepping away from the music scene, he held a charity auction for a drum kit, with the proceeds benefiting an animal adoption center located in Williamson County, Tennessee.

Looking ahead, My Chemical Romance is set to kick off a 10-date stadium tour in North America next year. The tour will feature a full performance of “The Black Parade,” which was originally released in 2006.

My Chemical Romance was established in 2001 and produced four studio albums throughout their journey. Their initial surge into the spotlight came with the release of “Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge” in 2004. The band announced their disbandment in 2013, and the following year, they released a compilation album entitled “May Death Never Stop You.” In 2019, My Chemical Romance revealed their reunion, disclosing that they had secretly regrouped two years prior.
