ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — The Buffalo Bills announced on Saturday that they have activated Matt Milano from injured reserve, allowing the starting linebacker the opportunity to return to the field for the game against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday night.
Milano, aged 30, has been sidelined for almost 14 months due to injuries. He suffered a broken right leg in Week 5 of the previous season and then experienced a torn left biceps in mid-August.
Sitting atop the AFC East with a record of 9-2, the Bills are likely to take a cautious approach in integrating Milano back into the game. As such, his playing time against the 49ers (record of 5-6) remains uncertain, especially considering that Buffalo is on the verge of securing its fifth consecutive division title with just one more victory needed.
In addition, the Bills have also promoted tight end Zach Davidson and quarterback Mike White from their practice squad ahead of Sunday’s matchup. The game is anticipated to be played in challenging wintry conditions, as a lake-effect snowstorm began impacting the area around the Bills’ stadium on Saturday. This storm is projected to deliver between 20 to 30 inches of snow by the time the game kicks off.
