ATHENS, Ga. — Nate Frazier completed a thrilling 2-point conversion during the eighth overtime period, leading the No. 6 Georgia Bulldogs to a dramatic 44-42 win over Georgia Tech on Friday night. This nail-biting victory came after a remarkable fourth-quarter comeback by the Bulldogs, who found themselves down 17-0 at halftime and struggled for much of the game.

Despite the challenging circumstances, the Bulldogs (10-2, ranked No. 7 in the CFP) may have secured their place in the College Football Playoff, irrespective of the outcome of their upcoming Southeastern Conference championship game. Quarterback Carson Beck had an impressive performance, tossing five touchdown passes, including two crucial ones in overtime, before the Bulldogs finally took the lead following a 27-all deadlock at the end of regulation.

Georgia Tech (7-5), led by Haynes King, provided a fierce challenge as he accounted for three rushing touchdowns and two passing touchdowns. However, the Yellow Jackets ultimately suffered their seventh consecutive defeat to Georgia, concluding at just past midnight on a chilly evening at Sanford Stadium.

Frazier’s thrilling handoff from Beck saw him charge through the center, prompting celebrations as fireworks lit up the sky above the stadium. This matchup etched itself into history as the longest game in SEC history, falling just one overtime short of matching the record for any Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) game – the 2021 contest where Illinois triumphed over Penn State 20-18 in nine overtimes.
