BOSTON — In an exciting encounter on Friday, Dartmouth triumphed over Boston College with an 88-83 victory, ending the Eagles’ impressive five-game winning streak. The standout performers for Dartmouth were Jayden Williams, Cade Haskins, and Ryan Cornish, each contributing 18 points to the team’s overall success. Dartmouth’s sharpshooting was on full display as they drained 17 three-pointers during the match.

With just 16.5 seconds remaining, Brandon Mitchell-Day sealed the win for Dartmouth by making two crucial free throws, pushing their lead to 86-82. Cornish then made a key steal to thwart Boston College’s efforts to score. After being fouled following the steal, Cornish added two more points at the line, putting Dartmouth ahead by six. Boston College struggled to find the net, missing their tenth consecutive three-point attempt in the second half.

The victory marked a significant milestone for Dartmouth (3-3), as it was their first road win in this series against Boston College since January 3, 1963. Historically, Boston College had dominated, winning 12 of their previous 13 meetings with Dartmouth dating back to the 1976-77 season. Despite the loss, Boston College still maintains an overall lead in the matchup, boasting a 23-9 record against Dartmouth, including a 16-3 advantage when playing at home.

Throughout the game, Dartmouth’s three-point shooting was exceptional, with Haskins hitting 6 of his 10 attempts from beyond the arc and Williams contributing five makes himself. In total, Dartmouth finished the game shooting an impressive 55% from three-point range. In contrast, Boston College struggled from distance, managing only 5 of 23 attempts, while they were more successful at the free-throw line, converting 20 of 27 shots.

In addition to Williams, Haskins, and Cornish’s scoring efforts, Brandon Mitchell-Day contributed 14 points, while Connor Amundsen added 11 points for the winning side. On the other hand, Boston College (6-2) was led by Joshua Beadle, who scored 19 points, followed closely by Elijah Strong with 18 and Chad Venning with 17.

Beadle had been pivotal in recent games, including a memorable three-pointer just before halftime that gave BC a narrow 44-42 lead against Dartmouth.

Looking ahead, Dartmouth is set to face New Hampshire on Tuesday, while Boston College will host South Carolina in the SEC/ACC Men’s Challenge on the same day.
