SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Paul Bissonnette, a former NHL player and current analyst for TNT, encountered a violent situation at a steakhouse in Scottsdale on Sunday night when he was physically attacked by a group of men.
Bissonnette took to social media on Monday, sharing a video that recounted the events of the night. He stated that the confrontation began when one individual from the group confronted the restaurant’s manager and became aggressive after his companion was asked to leave.
“The manager looked visibly shocked and taken aback,” Bissonnette explained. “Since it was a family dining establishment with no one available to assist, I decided to step in. I confronted the individual, saying, ‘If you continue to assault and intimidate the staff, we are going to have a serious issue.’”
According to Bissonnette, the situation quickly escalated, leading to a brawl that originated in the restaurant and extended into the parking lot and subsequently to a nearby shop. He described suffering multiple kicks to the head and enduring various punches while also managing to fend off the seven attackers.
In response to the incident, local law enforcement apprehended six men who are now facing charges of assault and engaging in disorderly conduct.
Bissonnette, who enjoyed a career in the NHL from 2008 to 2014, played primarily for the Arizona Coyotes during his final six seasons before transitioning into sports broadcasting.
